This Cookie Policy explains how Hatch Beauty Limited, trading as Phase Zero Makeup ("we", "us", "our"), uses cookies and similar technologies on phasezeromakeup.com and any country-specific version of it (the "Site").
It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains more broadly how we handle your personal information, and our Terms and Conditions.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to recognise your device, remember what you have done, and store your preferences between visits.
We also use technologies that work in a similar way, including pixels and tags (small pieces of code that record that a page or email has been opened), local storage (data held in your browser rather than in a cookie file), and software development kits in any app we offer. In this policy we refer to all of these as "cookies".
Cookies set by us are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by another company through our Site — for example an analytics or advertising provider — are called third-party cookies.
Cookies last for different lengths of time. Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies stay on your device until they expire or you delete them.
2. Why we use cookies
We use cookies to make the Site work, to keep it secure, to understand how it is used so we can improve it, to remember your preferences, and to show and measure advertising.
Some cookies are essential — without them, things like the basket and checkout cannot function. Others are optional, and you choose whether to allow them.
3. The categories of cookie we use
| Category | What it does | Consent |
| Strictly necessary | Makes the Site function. Keeps you signed in, remembers what is in your basket, processes checkout, balances traffic across servers, and protects against fraud and abuse. Set by our ecommerce platform and payment providers. | Not optional — the Site cannot work without these |
| Functional | Remembers choices you have made, such as your currency, language, region, and whether you have dismissed a banner or notification. Also supports live chat and customer service tools. | Optional |
| Performance and analytics | Tells us how the Site is used — which pages are visited, how people move through them, where errors occur, and how well pages load. We use this in aggregate to improve the Site. Providers include Google Analytics and our ecommerce platform's own reporting. | Optional |
| Marketing and targeting | Records that you visited, viewed a product, or made a purchase, so that we can show you relevant advertising elsewhere and measure whether our advertising works. Providers include Meta, Google and TikTok. These cookies may also be used to build a profile of your interests. | Optional |
| Email and messaging | Recognises you when you arrive from one of our emails or messages, and records whether an email was opened or a link clicked. Set by Klaviyo, which sends our email, SMS and RCS communications. | Optional |
The specific cookies in each category change from time to time as we add or remove tools. You can see the current set, and control the optional categories, through the privacy settings available on the Site.
4. Third parties who set cookies through our Site
The following companies may set cookies when you use the Site. Each handles the data it collects under its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to read.
- Shopify — hosts our store and provides essential and analytics cookies
- Shopify Payments, Stripe and PayPal — payment processing and fraud prevention
- Klaviyo — email, SMS and RCS marketing and its measurement
- Meta — advertising on Facebook and Instagram, and measurement
- Google — analytics, advertising and measurement
- TikTok — advertising and measurement
We do not control third-party cookies and cannot set or remove them on your behalf beyond the choices offered in our privacy settings.
5. How to control cookies
On our Site
Where required by the law that applies to you, we ask for your consent before setting optional cookies, and you can change your choice at any time through the privacy settings available on the Site. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and does not affect anything we did while your consent was in place.
Global Privacy Control
If your browser or a browser extension sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for that browser and device, and we action it automatically. You do not need to do anything else.
In your browser
Every major browser lets you see the cookies stored on your device, delete them, and block some or all of them. These controls are usually found under Settings, then Privacy. Blocking all cookies will stop parts of the Site working, including the basket and checkout.
Advertising opt-outs
You can also manage interest-based advertising directly with the platforms, through your Meta, Google and TikTok account ad settings, and through industry tools such as the Digital Advertising Alliance's YourAdChoices and the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance's Your Online Choices.
Opting out of advertising cookies does not mean you will see fewer adverts. It means the adverts you see will be less relevant to you.
6. Do Not Track
Browsers may offer a "Do Not Track" setting. There is no agreed industry standard for how sites should respond to it, and we do not currently respond to Do Not Track signals. We do honour Global Privacy Control signals, as described above.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as the tools we use change or the law develops. Any update will appear on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Please check back from time to time.
8. Contact us
